Mike Chaplin is a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is recognised as one of the leading watercolour artists of his generation. His love of teaching and his enthusiasm for his painting was evident in his celebrated role as resident art expert in more than 60 episodes of the much loved T.V. programme Watercolour Challenge. This is his first solo instructional film.
Mike's work shows a master of the watercolor medium in action. Mike's demonstration pieces are shot both on location and in the studio and they are widely different. One painting is done with just a single color, which is quite remarkable. His paintings have a sense of light and space that only a watercolor can give. For this film Mike traveled to the coastal resort of Southwold on the Suffolk coast to give us an insight into how he tackles the challenge of watercolor.
